At the very beginning, we need to figure out what do we need to play MKV on Mac.
On the one hand, we need MKV files.
The Matroska Multimedia Container is an open standard, free container format. MKV in 720p or 1080p are often seen by us.
So how to figure out the format of our video is .mkv or .mp4 or .avi?
1. Double click Computer on your desktop.
2. Click Tools and choose Folder Options.
3. There will pop up a window, click View. And then, scroll down to the Hide extensions for known file types, last click OK button.
